Max von Wening Gas Light

Gas Light

This painting is everyone's favorite, and is a tribute to van Gogh. The style emulates van Gogh and is how Max believes van Gogh would paint places that could be New Orleans or San Francisco in the late 1800's. Hotel Dieu, the hospital in France where van Gogh died in 1890, is featured. Each brick has 12 different color layers painted into it, causing a chandelier light effect when placed under low level lighting in a dark room. The style of the brush strokes gives you a van Gogh presence as the whole town lights up in gold light. A very playful painting that has many faces. Max was introduced to van Gogh's art at the age of eight and became captivated by his work. Max is strongly influenced by van Gogh's work.
